What is the nature of environmentally friendly food packaging?

Our environmental awareness is growing. We are more demanding and critical. We are more concerned about the future of the planet. That’s why our consumption habits are also changing, and one proof of this is the increasingly popular reusable cups. But we must not forget about environmentally friendly packaging.
We want to know more about the products we buy. What are they made of, how is their production process, what is the impact they generate when they are discarded? Endless questions whose answers condition us in our final decision.
A very representative example is the ecological packaging for food use. Cups, bowls or tuppers are very present in our daily lives. These types of containers can be made of different materials of very diverse origins, but all of them must be environmentally friendly if they are to be considered ecological packaging.
Ecological food packaging
We could say that the most common are those made from recycled and recyclable materials, since their production does not involve the creation of new resources. But not all ecological packaging of these characteristics take into account the reduction of polluting gases in their production.
Therefore, the manufacture and disposal of environmentally friendly packaging must involve zero industrial pollution. In other words, their production must contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
As we have already said, there are many types of ecological packaging. But if what we are looking for is packaging that is also truly sustainable, we should opt for those that are made from waste generated in the agri-food sector itself.
It is not the same to produce packaging from virgin resources, such as corn or sugar cane, as it is to do so by reusing existing resources, without the need to cultivate or produce new ones. This also implies a reduction in CO2 emissions compared to other manufacturing processes.
Environmentally friendly packaging for beverages and liquids
