It is called Oryzite, it is produced from rice husks grown in the Ebro Delta and has become the best sustainable alternative to plastic. Do you want to know more about the origin of this material that is revolutionizing the world? Well, the starting point was the intention to reuse the large quantities of rice husks that were discarded in the Montsià rice fields.
Around 60 million kilos of rice are produced annually in the Ebro Delta, 12 million kilos of which correspond to the husk alone. This part of the rice plant is used to transform it into Oryzite, a very resistant raw material. Manufacturing with Oryzite allows us to reduceCO2 emissions by 72%, while at the same time saving energy because we do it at lower temperatures and with shorter cycle times.
Oryzite is the main component of Ecogots reusable cups. Currently, Ecogots containers are composed of 60% Oryzite and 40% polypropylene, a proportion that will evolve in the coming months to reach levels of approximately 80% Oryzite.
This innovative material is revolutionizing the reusable cup market. Companies that consume a large number of single-use cups, such as cafeterias or fast food chains, are encouraging the reuse of packaging in their establishments. Packaging that is not only made of plastic, but of other materials that can replace a large part of it, much more sustainable, such as Oryzite.
As if all this were not enough, new legislation is pushing single-use packaging into a corner, encouraging the use of 100% recyclable packaging, a goal that we have already achieved at Ecogots.
Our containers made with Oryzite withstand the high temperatures of dishwashers and in case of breakage they must be deposited in the yellow container to return to the production line.
