Last December we had the opportunity to attend the VI Edition of the “Recicla La Noche” Gala, an event held in Madrid in which the best practices in sustainability and responsibility related to Madrid’s nightlife were awarded.

During the annual event, led by the Association of Nightlife Entrepreneurs of the Community of Madrid, Noche Madrid and Pernod Ricard España, initiatives by institutions, the media, entrepreneurs and hoteliers to promote economic, social and environmental sustainability in the sector were recognized.

Ecogots was one of the companies awarded at the “Recicla La Noche” Gala for its personalized cups. personalized cups. Specifically for our fight to eliminate single-use plastic in nightlife venues through the use of ecological and sustainable materials such as rice husks.

Those in charge of receiving the award were Joan Cristina and Elisabet Zaragoza, CEO’s of Ecogots and responsible for manufacturing a reusable cup pioneer in Europe from a resistant organic waste. Joan Cristina stressed that “we are convinced that this recognition will help to increase the presence of our Ecogots reusable cups in leisure venues throughout Spain, thus reducing the generation of new plastic waste“.

During the Gala, other projects were also recognized, such as Madrid Salud’s “Pad Night” for addressing the problem of alcohol abuse and the National Police Force’s “Take care of your belongings” campaign, aimed at promoting self-protection and prevention behaviors. Coctelería Angelita for its involvement with sustainability in its cocktails through the use of ingredients, and Pernod Ricard España’s “The Bar World of Tomorrow” project, a sustainability and responsibility training program specifically for the hospitality sector, were some of the awards presented during the evening.

In addition, the sector also wanted to recognize the Observatory of Leisure and Tourism created by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and España de Noche for its work in understanding the characteristics and macroeconomic dimensions of the leisure and entertainment sector, as well as the work of the Tourism Council of CEOE for its role in defending and protecting the sector.

Finally, in the category for the media, the winners were Abraham Rivera, for his report on the change of trends in nightlife and the decline of botellón published in the ICON magazine of El País, Sandra Mir, from Informativos Tele 5, for her report on security measures in nightlife venues on the occasion of the celebration of Halloween and the program “Más de Uno” of Onda Cero for its news coverage of the campaign “Cuida tus pertenencias” (Take care of your belongings).

Awards of this kind, which focus on social and environmental awareness initiatives, show that when night falls, sustainability does not necessarily have to fall.
