How to comply with festival regulations and be sustainable? The solution lies in Ecogots’ reusable cups

Última modificación:

In the world of events, sustainability is no longer optional: it is a legal and social requirement. If you organise festivals or large events, you need to adapt to current packaging regulations and apply responsible practices. In this context, Ecogots offers a comprehensive solution that combines legal compliance, sustainability and technology.

What regulations apply to cups at festivals?

Standard UNE-EN 13429:2005

This European standard establishes the requirements that reusable containers must meet, ensuring that they can be used multiple times without compromising safety or functionality. Ecogots is officially certified to comply with this standard, ensuring that our cups are designed to be durable, safe and environmentally friendly.

Royal Decree 1055/20229:2005

This decree regulates the management of packaging and packaging waste in Spain, and has direct implications for events such as festivals. It requires traceability, collection and reuse or recycling of all packaging used. In other words, the use of single-use cups without control of their final destination is no longer allowed.

Cup reuse at festivals: how it works

At Ecogots we propose a deposit return system for festivals and events:

  • The user pays a small deposit for the reusable cup.
  • During the event, he can use it as many times as he wants.
  • At the end of the event, if he returns it, he gets his money back.
  • If he decides to keep it, the cup remains useful and sustainable and also becomes a souvenir of the event.

Similarly, if the festival uses generic design cups, these can be stored, washed and used in future editions. On the other hand, if a customized design with specific dates or branding is chosen, the cups are properly recycled to manufacture new products. This avoids waste and maintains the environmental commitment.

Technology and traceability for intelligent management

Each Ecogots cup incorporates a unique QR code on its base. This code allows:

  • Follow the life cycle of the vessel.
  • Associate it to a user in case of automated systems.
  • Efficiently manage the return of the deposit by means of reading machines.

This facilitates the traceability required by law and provides added value in terms of transparency, control and logistics.

What is the difference between recycling and reusing?

Although both processes are sustainable, reuse is always preferable to recycling, as it avoids the consumption of additional resources. At Ecogots we encourage reuse, but we also ensure responsible recycling when necessary.

In addition, we use Oryzite, an innovative material obtained from rice husk biomass, which reduces our carbon footprint and reinforces our commitment to a more natural and circular production model.
