The economic space of reference in Catalonia “Valor afegit“, broadcasted by TV3, counted with the participation of Ecogots to produce an interesting report on reusable packaging, where our sustainable proposals of personalized cups were not missing.
The report explained the origin of the revolutionary material Oryzite, which is used to manufacture Ecogots packaging. The project, led by the Monstià Rice Chamber, a region located in Tarragona, found that of the 60 million kilos of rice produced each year, one fifth corresponded only to the husk. This organic waste was not being used. But that has changed, as millions of kilos of rice husks are now being sold to be transformed into a revolutionary raw material called Oryzite®, which is used in the manufacture of several products, such as Ecogots reusable packaging.
“Valor Afegit” interviewed our CEO’s, Joan Cristina and Elisabet Zaragoza, as spokespersons of the company. Joan had the opportunity to explain the manufacturing process of our cups, with a proportion of 60% Oryzite and 40% polypropylene. Although great advances are expected in the coming months to increase the amount of rice husk to 80%.
On the other hand, Elizabet Zaragoza explained the increase in demand from companies with a high volume of non-reusable packaging, such as cafeterias or fast food establishments. These companies are looking to purchase Ecogots cups to encourage reuse, improve sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint that is so harmful to our planet.
This trend is being applied to new legislation that increasingly penalizes single-use packaging. In fact, by 2030, the aim is for 100% of such packaging to be fully recyclable.
The TV3 program “Valor Afegit” showed Ecogots cups as a sustainable and ecological alternative on the rise, since their characteristics allow them to withstand different temperatures, being suitable for microwaves and dishwashers. In addition, they are products that can be recycled through the yellow containers.
