Cups that contribute to sustainability at music festivals

Última modificación:

Music festivals have an unfinished business, and that is to reduce the environmental impact they generate. A carbon footprint that has a negative impact on the environment and that more and more organizers are trying to reduce with sustainable trends.

Some of the world’s most important music festivals, such as Glastonbury in the United Kingdom, the American Coachella or the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, are setting an example with committed measures to reduce their impact on the environment. They have implemented various actions, such as promoting the use of public transport and bicycles, the installation of solar panels, waste management through recycling and composting, the use of renewable energy sources and the promotion of organic and local products.

One of these measures that has already arrived in our country is, without a doubt, the use of reusable cups. These cups reduce the waste generated by single-use plastics and now, thanks to Ecogots’ pioneering technology, also reduce the amount of plastic in reusable cups.

The Ecogots cup and sustainability at festivals

Ecogots containers are made from rice husks from the Ebro Delta, a local material called Oryzite®, which reducesCO2 emissions by 72% and the amount of plastic in reusable cups by 60%.

Thanks to its ecological and sustainable composition, Ecogots has already manufactured more than 2 million reusable and customized cups for music festivals such as Sónar, Ítaca, Ibiza Rocks or Estaciones Sonoras to help reduce their environmental impact.

Its revolutionary material allows event organizers and promoters to implement a resource reuse system through a cup made from organic waste such as rice husks.

Festivals such as Sónar, Ítaca, Ibiza Rocks and Estaciones Sonoras have already trusted Ecogots to replace plastic with rice husks in their reusable cups.

In the case of Sónar, the organizers wanted to give a twist to the sustainable measures of the festival, promoting a 360o circularity project. Ecogots manufactured 450,000 reusable and 100% biodegradable cups for the occasion, this last premise was essential for Sónar and, thanks to Ecogots being a manufacturer, it could be carried out. In this way, at the end of the festival, the cups are converted into compost to be used in nearby fields.

Reducing the impact is possible

It is clear that climate change and environmentalism are two of the issues that most concern society and, for some time now, also music festivals. For this reason, many of these events are already including in their management an analysis of the environmental impact they generate and how to reduce it. Especially in reducing the large amount of waste generated, mainly in the consumption of food and drink within the enclosures for this type of festivals.

At Ecogots, we are convinced that sustainable trends will set the course for the next festivals, and that our 100% reusable cups made from rice husks will replace, sooner rather than later, containers made entirely of plastic.
