Last Sunday 27 April, on International Graphic Design Day, we interviewed Julia, a member of the Ecogots team who, as a graphic designer, is responsible for adapting each design that arrives from orders to help make them a reality.
In this short interview, we will find out a little more about her, her concerns and what it means to her to be a Graphic Designer.
Julia, what can you tell us about yourself?
I’m Julia Torrejón, I’m 24 years old and I studied Design and Art Direction. Since I was little I wanted to be a designer, I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else but this hahaha. I’ve always considered myself a curious person with an eye for detail. Besides, I love photography and reading.
What tools do you consider essential for a Graphic Designer in their daily work?
What inspired you to become a graphic designer?
I’ve always liked to see how design is really everywhere, for example. From an idea to its production everything has to be designed and there are so many types of designers… I am also very attracted by the ability of design to make people identify symbols and connect them to brands or people without realising it. It is really particular cases of fascination that made me decide to go into this world.
What part of the creative process do you enjoy the most?
I think my favourite part has to be the beginning, which would be talking to the client to get to understand their vision. That’s where the first ideas come from. In the end, every design has a purpose no matter how much creative freedom you have, and getting what the client had in mind is one of the hardest things to do. Otherwise, I also quite enjoy doing photo shoots for campaigns, although I’m not a photographer… yet!
What do you like most about working with designs for personalised cups?
You’d be surprised how many people order personalised cups in the first place. Every order has a story behind it: from birthdays and weddings to corporate gifts, for example. What I love most is being able to transform these varieties of designs into tangible ideas, something that people will use, enjoy, reuse and re-enjoy. Each client is looking for something different, which makes the process dynamic and non-repetitive.
From Ecogots, thank you Julia for giving colour, shape and soul to our ideas!
