Afro Nation Puerto Rico goes for reusable cups
World renowned, Afro Nation is one of the most important festivals on the planet. Its mission is to tour the world with performances by superstars of Afro-American sounds, such as Afrobeats, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop or R&B. A great celebration of black and African music where, for three days, both established artists of the genre and emerging musicians come together.
It was in the month of March 2022, that the Afro Nation landed for the first time in Puerto Rico, starring in the first edition held in the Caribbean in the history of this famous festival. A great party on the beach and under the sun, with a very committed to the environment.
Afro Nation Puerto Rico wanted to go a step further, avoiding single-use plastic cups in their venue and offering attendees reusable and completely biodegradable cups.
Afro Nation Puerto Rico and sustainable festivals
Thanks to this initiative, Ecogots had a presence, for the first time, in a South American country and at a world-class music event.
In addition, the Afro Nation organization led environmental awareness actions in parallel to the festival, summoning attendees to a massive collection of plastic waste on the beaches near the performances.
A great experience that culminated with the design of a cup made from rice husks, in which we applied the festival logo and the suggestive phrase: If not recycled this cup, self-destruct.
